Eyeglass Recycling 1

Lions Clubs International volunteers collect old eyeglasses, reading glasses and sunglasses. We return them to recycling centers where they clean and repair the used eyewear. Ultimately, Lions Clubs distribute the eyeware to people who can’t afford to buy their own.

Donating eyeglasses is easy.

We accept both prescription and non-prescription eyewear, in both adults’ and children’s sizes. Sunglasses are also accepted.

In Johnston, take them to the Johnston Public LIbrary, Created in Johnston, Sara’s Hallmark, Grinnell State Bank, Charter Bank, Crown Point Community Center or to nearby LensCrafters at Merle Hay Mall, Vision 4 Less on Merle Hay, or Wylie Eye Care on NW 86th.

My name is Jacky Bresnahan and I am with the ICAA (Iowa Community Action Association) Conference Planning Committee. We are having our annual conference in July of 2020 in West Des Moines. We a using a theme for 20/20 vision and are challenging our Community Action groups to collect used glasses. Is your group interested in being the recipient of the glasses we collect? If so can someone contact me so we can get detail of what challenge will look like and how to get the glasses to you after collection. Thank you for you time.
